Music is a timeless tradition that lends itself to commemorating our forbearers, and paying tribute to sources of inspiration. To this end, I have been making efforts over the last few weeks to record a collection of low-budget home recordings of some of the songs of the late, great singer/songwriter Bill Doss. One of the core personalities of the Elephant 6 Recording Company, the songs that Bill Doss wrote and recorded with groups like The Olivia Tremor Control and The Sunshine Fix have been continuing sources of both reverie and inspiration; since adolescence I have held a particular affinity for the music and voice of Bill Doss -- his songs that I have added to my songbook are among my favorites to sing and play. With that in mind, I have attempted (with a little help from my friends!) to pay tribute to the legacy of a once-in-a-lifetime songwriter and musician whose voice has accompanied me through both good times and bad. This little digital EP functions as something of a sampler for the complete collection of songs, which is still forthcoming (keep your eyes peeled, folks...) I hope you will enjoy these three rough mixes and share in celebration of the life and music of Bill Doss. Thank you.
Rest in Peace, Bill Doss

Thanks are due to Teague for laying down some seriously nimble and always reliable rhythm. Thanks to the magnificent Carly for throwing together a delightful piece of art with minimal direction in a matter of hours. Thanks to the Elephant 6 community, both the fans and the artists. The biggest thanks of all to Bill, of course, for the music, for being himself, for being a part of my life, even if only in song.
